Belgium is one of the first continental European countries to play association football. Union Belge des Sociétés de Sports Athlétiques (UBSSA) was formed by ten clubs for football, athletics, cricket, and cycling on 1st September 1895. So far, Belgium is the only national team in the world that ranked first in FIFA without winning the World Cup or the Continental Trophy.
